New “Viagra” Beer Coming Soon to the United Kingdom

The Mayo Clinic says that if males drink then they experience erectile dysfunctions, or what is commonly termed ‘brewer’s droop’, but one British brewery, Brewdog, have decided to discover if the British beer drinker will appreciate its new beer, which contains “natural” Viagra.

They produced only 1,000 bottles shipped to selected outlets on 28th April 2011 the day before the royal wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton. They claimed that drinking three bottles of their beer, called Royal Virility Performance, would have the same effect as taking one of those little blue pills. However the beer had 7.5 % alcoholic content, so the results may not have been entirely as the brewers hoped.

The “natural” Viagra could have been safed musli or Chlorophytum borivilianum which is used in traditional medicine on the Indian subcontinent for impotency and other erectile dysfunctions, or perhaps it was Tribulus terrestris, commonly known as puncture vine.

This would seem to defeat the object as if men didn’t drink they wouldn’t, perhaps have the problem of not being able to get and maintain an erection. Drinking a beer which contains natural Viagra seems to be somewhat contradictory. But if it is a success, we could expect to see Cialis and Levitra laced beer coming soon too.

There may soon be condoms which have an action similar to Viagra, and as yet the brewery is not saying whether their limited edition beer was a success or not. They did say, however, that if it were a success they would make more of the beer.

It should be pointed out that institutes and health professionals concerned with the effects of alcohol on the sex drive and performance state quite clearly that alcohol impairs a man’s sexual ability and also lowers sexual desire, although it may increase sexual aggression, which is not at all desirable. Women who drink more than the recommended daily allowance suffer from difficulties in reaching an orgasm and a general lower sexual satisfaction, so mixing “natural” Viagra with beer doesn’t seem the best idea a brewery could come up with.
